GOOGLE AI SEARCH

SEO for Google AI Overviews and AI Mode: what actually changes

The search interface is changing, but there is no separate GEO switch that replaces good SEO. Advantage comes from useful, accessible content that is difficult to substitute.

1. Start with SEO fundamentals

Indexation, crawlability, internal linking, performance, canonicalisation and readable content remain prerequisites. A new answer format will not repair a technically fragile site.

Maintain one canonical source for each intent and make core information available in HTML without unnecessary dependencies.

2. Avoid commodity content

If a page repeats what is already everywhere, a generative system can summarise the topic without needing that particular source. Data, experience, tools, examples, benchmarks and evidenced opinions increase distinctiveness.

The editorial question becomes: what can the reader obtain here that a generic synthesis cannot provide?

3. Design for the decision, not the isolated keyword

A query belongs to a journey. Connect definition, comparison, cost, use cases, risks, implementation and proof through coherent internal architecture.

This helps people and search systems understand topical depth, relationships between pages and the role of each asset.

4. Measure business beyond rankings

Rankings, impressions and clicks still matter, but connect them to non-brand demand, conversion, pipeline and presence across new search surfaces.

If traffic patterns change while qualified opportunities improve, the system may be getting stronger. Measure what supports the economic decision.

Build a system that keeps working when ad spend stops.

We start with demand, current visibility and the bottlenecks limiting organic growth and conversion.
